African Cartographic Map Library expanded

East View Cartographic (EVC) is excited to announce product expansion into Madagascar. EVC has formed a strategic partnership with FTM of Madagascar (Foiben-Taosarintanin’I Madagasikara) to offer topographic and geological maps in both paper and digital formats. EVC has acquired and signed digital rights agreements to offer these unique locally produced maps to its numerous customer segments which include: academic libraries, regional and international governmental agencies, defense & intelligence communities, the tourism industry and oil, gas and mining corporations.

In 2004, EVC embarked on an aggressive mission to acquire the world’s largest commercially-available collection of locally produced cartography and GIS data from all of the countries on the African continent to augment an already robust collection comprised of precision topographic, geological, GIS and nautical data. Madagascar now accompanies EVC’s similar success in South Africa, Kenya, Botswana and several other African countries. To support this effort, EVC established several highly productive African-based procurement relationships.

According to Kent Lee, CEO of East View Cartographic, “Infrastructure development on the African continent coupled with heightened geopolitical interest in many African countries has dramatically increased the appetite for GIS and cartographic data. We are proud to have seen these trends early and to have acted as aggressively as we did. We have already satisfied dozens of commercial and governmental requests for geospatial data products and value-add services. Adding Madagascar to our library as completely as we have is a harbinger for other soon-to-follow announcements.”
