Atlaspost.Com, Social Mapping Site From Taiwan

Atlaspost.com today officially launched its English site for the global market at DEMO 08. Atlaspost.com is a popular social mapping network from Taiwan.

What makes Atlaspost.com stand out is that they have designed the map to be a fun place with three innovative features, which caught the eye of Google Taiwan. Among them, ''Atlas Village'' is regarded as one of the most innovative and fun features to date. In ''Atlas Village'', you are allowed to personalize your own space on the map by buying virtual items and decorating your space. Also, you can zoom out on the map and see what your neighbours are building.

At Atlaspost.com, you can tag on the map photos of where you have been and you can also see nearby users and their photo albums. This second feature of Atlaspost.com adapts to the prevalent GPS technology. If your camera or camera-phone has a built in GPS device, Atlaspost.com automatically detects where you took your pictures and shows it on the map. This way, your photos are tagged and organized on the map.

With their third feature -- Atlas Posts -- users can post their blogs onto the map and they can also see other users who are posting in the area. This adds a time and place to the blogs that people are posting. It also makes the distance between users tangible. Atlaspost.com was created to meet the basic need to explore and know one's surroundings -- "Where am I?", "What is around me?" and "Who is around me?". The majority of blogging has been about who you are. Atlaspost.com turns the table around and makes
blogging about where you are.
