About Dr. Christopher Barber:
Chris Barber is interested in the application of remotely sensing biophysical parameters from the earth's surface for the monitoring of ecological processes. Chris' previous graduate work explored the differences in model selection, vegetation indexes, and sensor platform in using temperature/VI relationships to assess forest water status for wildland fire risk assessment. Previous work also includes landcover mapping & analysis with Landsat TM and development of cellular automata models for forecasting landcover change. He previously held a Research Assistant postion with the Center for Global Change and Earth Observation at Michigan State University where, among many other things, he worked on Landsat Pathfinder Humid Tropical Forest Inventory. Chris' educational background includes a B.S. in Environmental Studies from the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey and work towards an M.S. in Forestry from Michigan State University. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Geographic Information Science & Engineering at SDSU.
