Job: Tenure-track Faculty Position at Louisiana State University

The Louisiana State University Department of Geography and Anthropology invites applications for the following tenure-track positions, with anticipation of funding in Aug 2012, at the Assistant Professor rank.

1. GIS Science with a focus on Remote Sensing - Reference #001071
Required Qualifications: A PhD degree in Geography or a related field is required at the time of appointment. Candidates should have a strong background in Geographical Information Science, a promising program of research, a strong potential for external funding, and excellence in teaching and graduate mentoring.
Desired Qualifications: The ideal candidate should be specialized in applications in one or more of the following areas: coastal environment, hazards, human and social dynamics, and climate change.

2. Climatologist - Reference #019004
Required Qualifications: A PhD degree in Geography or a related field is required at the time of appointment. Candidates should have a promising program of research, a strong potential for external funding, and excellence in teaching and graduate mentoring.

Desired Qualifications: Candidates in all climatology specialties will be considered with preference given to those with research interests in: coastal processes, climate and adaptation, regional climate downscaling, and/or climatology of extreme events.

Additional Information: Summer research funding opportunities exist with the Southern Regional Climate Center (SRCC), Southern Climate Impacts Planning Program (SCIPP), or the South Central Climate Science Center (SCCSC).
