According to a PTI report, University of Kashmir (KU) has introduced Master's Programme in Remote Sensing and GIS from the academic session 2010-11. The University has constituted an advisory committee, chaired by the Vice-Chancellor Riyaz Punjabi, for smooth functioning of this course.
He said the introduction of the programme will further help make the benefits of space technology and IT available to our state. Shoukat Shafi, KU spokesman, said, “The goal is to enhance the understanding and subsequent use of Remote Sensing and GIS for socio-economic environmental friendly development of the state."
University of Kashmir was the first University in the North India to offer PG Diploma in Remote Sensing and GIS in 2004.
