ERDAS announces the release of ERDAS Image Web Server 2009 for Linux and Sun Solaris. ERDAS Image Web Server makes a GIS faster by solving the infrastructure congestion problems caused by large volumes of image data.
This is the inaugural release of ERDAS Image Web Server 2009 on Linux (Red Hat Enterprise 5) and Sun Solaris. Earlier this year, ERDAS Image Web Server 2009 was released on Microsoft Windows 32 and 64 bit platforms. An earlier version of ERDAS Image Web Server was also available for Sun Solaris.
Along with support for the premium file formats of ECW and JPEG 2000, ERDAS Image Web Server adds support for standard file formats, including GeoTIFF, MrSID and IMG. ERDAS Image Web Server supports the high-speed streaming imagery protocol ECWP, as well as speed-optimized OGC WMS, ArcXML(R) and HTTP. New protocols have also been added to the ERDAS Image Web Server 2009 release with JPIP (JPEG 2000 interactive protocol) and WMS-C (a map tile based delivery solution).
