Map2PDF for IMAGINE released

ERDAS Inc. announces the release of Map2PDF for IMAGINE, a new product combining TerraGo Technologies’ Map2PDF (now called Publisher) with the power of ERDAS IMAGINE, the industry’s leading and most complete collection of software tools designed to manipulate, process and understand imagery and vector data.

With Map2PDF for IMAGINE, customers can transform and optimize any map or image into a geo-enabled PDF, also known as a GeoPDF®. Professionals who have limited or no knowledge of complex GIS systems can now access and interact with intelligent maps and images. This unique software solution includes high quality image tools to create robust GeoPDF maps and images that can be used in Adobe Reader with the TerraGo Desktop application, formerly known as the GeoPDF Toolbar (a free, small-footprint plug-in).

This module extends TerraGo Technologies’ file format support, providing access to the 135 formats that ERDAS IMAGINE supports. Users can easily convert files, creating a PDF as an export function. The Map2PDF module can handle projects of any size; with the ability to batch-convert thousands of images or entire databases to GeoPDF images. In Adobe Reader, end users can easily view, annotate, access coordinate information.

Additionally, users can also create cartographic, quality map compositions and export these to GeoPDF. Utilizing ERDAS IMAGINE’s Map Series tools, users can access standard templates or customize templates to create GeoPDFs of image map compositions in bulk form.

“This solution is ideal for Defense customers, or any organization needing to deliver data in a simple, easy-to-use format that anyone can access,” said Mladen Stojic, Senior Vice President, Product Management and Marketing, ERDAS. “Map2PDF for IMAGINE integrates our deep expertise in advanced imagery with TerraGo’s expertise in making complex geospatial data accessible for non-GIS professionals.”

“We’re pleased to join forces with an industry leader such as ERDAS as we continue to pursue our mission of helping GIS experts extend the access and application of their geospatial assets to professionals who rely on the information to perform their daily tasks,” said Richard Cobb, President and CEO, TerraGo Technologies. “The combined ERDAS-TerraGo solution puts highly advanced maps and images in the hands of soldiers, emergency responders, utility workers and others so they can respond faster, make better decisions and be more productive.”
