Lower Austria acquires high-resolution map data

Intermap Technologies, a leading worldwide 3D digital mapping company, today announced that highly accurate elevation models, derived from their fully collected NEXTMap Europe program, were licensed by the survey section of GEOinfo, the organization responsible for the acquisition, generation, and dissemination of geodata in Lower Austria. Intermap’s uniformly accurate elevation datasets were acquired through GeoVille Group, an Intermap regional distribution partner in Austria. The digital map data will be used for the geo-rectification of orthophotos and the general planning of a large construction project for the renewal of Vienna International airport.

Under the terms of the agreement, delivery of the datasets is scheduled for the end of the year. Deliverables include digital surface models depicting the earth’s surface (including cultural features such as vegetation, buildings, and roads), digital terrain models displaying the bare earth (with all cultural features digitally removed), and orthorectified radar images (grayscale images that accentuate topographic features).

“We are pleased that GEOinfo recognizes the value NEXTMap data will provide to their organizational initiatives,” stated Richard Smolenski, Intermap’s vice president of sales. “Additionally, GeoVille’s reputation in the industry is driving market awareness and education throughout the region regarding the availability of Intermap’s superior elevation models for Austria and Europe.”
