Masters in Geomatics at CEPT University, now opens

CEPT University has celebrated the inaugural function for its newly introduced Masters in Geomatics Programme, one of a kind in the State of Gujarat on 6th August 2008. Dr. R R Navalgund, Director Space Applications Centre has given a presidential address. He has mentioned the importance of the Geomatics in the current time of globalization and shown the increasing need of remote sensing, geographical information system, navigation and global positioning systems. He has briefed the process of the technology use, prioritizations, strategy and implementation of the decision taken through the geomatics.

In the end Dr. Navalgund has promised to extend the full support in the development and sustenance of the Geomatics programme at CEPT University. Dr. K L Majumudar, a guest of honour of the function from Spacetech Consultants also an adjunct professor at CEPT University made very clear in his speech that growing technology always have tremendous scopes and knowledge has no barrier of age which is proven by some senior students from various government organizations, NGOs etc.

After giving the brief overview of the academic programmes running in the campus, Dr. R N Vakil, Director CEPT University made it very clear that the university believes in quality education and the student are not only taught the subjects but also they learn to become an active member of the society.

Geomatics is a fast growing technology with excellent career prospects. It is a combination of Remote Sensing, Geographical information system, Global Positioning System and Database Management System. It is a need of high-tech world of techno-knowledge.

CEPT University is pioneer to introduce “Masters in Geomatics”. This programme has introduced from the academic year 2006 as a part time Programme. Looking to the increasing demand of professional expertise in the field and good response of the students CEPT has started this programme as a full time Masters programme from the academic year 2008.

After completion of the admission procedure, with the strength of around fifty students, CEPT University have arranged an inaugural function of the ‘Masters in Geomatics’ Programme on 6th of August 2008 at CEPT University auditorium. The honorable director of Space Application Centre has presided over the function.

Dr. R.N. Vakil, Director CEPT University, gave the total perspective of the esteem CEPT University and added that CEPT believe in quality education and student have not only taught the subjects but also they learn to become an active member of the society.

Dr. K. L. Majumdar, Spacetech Consultants and adjunct Faculty, CEPT University said that he strongly believe that growing technology always have tremendous scopes and knowledge has no barrier of age which is proven by some senior students from various government organizations, NGOs etc.

The honorable director of Space Application Centre Dr. Navalgund delivered a presidential address. He gave a very clear idea about the increasing need of Remote Sensing and Geographic Information System in the current scenario. He asserts his total support to develop Geomatics Programme.
