Map World Forum 2009

GEOInformatics, a leading magazine for Surveying, Mapping and GIS Professionals has joined hands with GIS Development, the Global Geospatial Network organization to be Media Partners for the upcoming mega show – Map World Forum. The conference, which is scheduled for February 10 – 13, 2009 at Hyderabad International Convention Centre, promises to go beyond speeches and discussions to find practical ways to protect earth and improve people’s lives. The theme for Map World Forum is ‘Geospatial Technology for Sustainable Planet Earth’.

On the occasion, Ruud Groothuis, owner of CMedia Productions BV, the publishing company of GeoInformatics, commented, “The Map World Forum is definitely worth attending. It provides full insight into the various applications of the geospatial data chain. It is a perfect meeting point to meet with many of the top professionals and key-people in Asia and beyond within the industry”.

Map World Forum is being organised by GIS Development under the patronage of Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. Major international Societies supporting Map World Forum include the International Federation of Surveyors (FIG), Geospatial Information Technology Association (GITA),the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS), Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) and International Cartographic Association (ICA). Map World Forum will also be promoted across the globe by the other media partners Directions Media, GIM International, ASM Newsletter, and Vector1 Media.

This year’s Map World Forum will include high-profile keynote remarks, guest lectures and plenary speeches addressing important issues and challenges facing the globe. There will also be four seminars, four theme-based symposia, three forums, as well as various technical sessions and workshops. In addition, there will be panel discussions, technology shows, user meets and social programmes. State-ofthe- art technologies and applications will be showcased throughout the 3000-square-metre grand exhibition hall, which will be central to the Forum.
