Micro Technologies, launched its new product, Micro Buddy Tracking System (MBTS). MBTS is a location-based product that helps mobile users to be in touch with their friends. The system uses Internet, Global Positioning System (GPS) and wireless data to track the exaction location of friends, he said. "Using this system, one can remain connected with friends and families while traveling,'' a senior company official said on the sidelines of the launch here.
Through GPS technology, the application automatically updates the location of a person and displays the information directly on a map on Internet or mobiles with GPS activated SIM. "This product offers a mix of social networking with the help of long messaging system and location-based services," he said. The system can be downloaded from the website www.microbts.net and annual subscription fee for it is Rs 750, he said. The system can be also be used by corporates and law enforcement agencies, he said. Micro Technologies, currently, has 91 Micro Shoppes across the country which showcases all its products to buyers. Out of the 91, the company owns six shops while the res t are franchised.
"By March 2009, we plan to enhance our network to 300. Of the total 300, we will own 10 per cent of the shops while the rest would be owned by franchisees" the company's Vice-President, Marketing, Mr Vijay Merchant, said.
