GIS Manager's Workshop in West Sacramento, California

Geographic Technologies Group, Inc. (GTG) is offering their GIS Manager’s Workshop in West Sacramento, California, on Tuesday, July 8, 2008.

West Sacramento is one of the first west coast cities to successfully launch an enterprise wide GIS initiative. They have combined the practicality and ease-of-use of GIS to offer pubic kiosks to their citizens, and have effectively saved thousands of dollars annually with other GIS related cost savings. West Sacramento’s location will offer students the opportunity to view a successful GIS operation, and provide the practical knowledge many GIS managers must have to succeed.

“GTG’s long lasting relationship with the City of West Sacramento, as well as the City’s devotion to a successful GIS, makes them a perfect host for the GIS Manager’s Workshop,” said Curt Hinton, GTG’s CEO. “Together, we will provide insightful and practical examples of how a GIS can be successfully implemented.”

Topics covered in the workshop include Managing GIS, The Governance of GIS, The Enterprise Implementation of GIS, and The Business Case for GIS. All topics focus on local government. Learn how to effectively find funding for your GIS, like the City of West Sacramento has.

GTG’s owners, Curt Hinton and David Holdstock, plan on visiting over ten cities throughout the year. Other scheduled locations include Olympia, Washington, on May 7.
