WANTED: NASA Video Producer for Planetary and Mars Science

We are looking for a full-time multimedia producer with a passion for science storytelling. This is a chance to work with a team of world class producers, science writers, animators, and data visualizers to create mind-bending video and multimedia content for some of NASA’s most exciting new space science missions: MAVEN, OSIRIS-REx, LRO, Mars Science Lab Curiosity Rover. This position is located at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD.

Job Description
    USRA seeks a full-time multimedia producer with a passion for science storytelling. This is a chance to work with a team of world class producers, science writers, animators, and data visualizers to create mind-bending video and multimedia content for some of NASA’s most exciting new space science missions: MAVEN, OSIRIS-REx, LRO, Mars Science Lab Curiosity Rover.  This position is located at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD.

        - Develops and produces multimedia products in support of Goddard’s planetary and space science missions.
        - Creates products for a wide range of audiences: broadcast media, educators and students, science center professionals, science bloggers and social media hubs, park rangers, documentary producers, and the general public.
        - Produces short form video content, video news releases, live public affairs and news programming, educational vignettes, webcasts, and integrated web content.
        - Responsible for all phases of video production:  pitching story ideas, writing scripts, directing camera operators, working with animators and data visualizers, video editing, and coordinating product release and distribution.

Required Skills

        Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in video/film production, journalism, graphics/animation, communications, or science writing.

Required Experience

        - Experience with all phases of the video and multimedia production process – especially editing, writing, and project management.
        - Experience with video editing software such as FCP strongly desired.
        - Experience working with animators or graphics professionals a bonus.
