Urban Mapping, Inc., a provider of location-enabled content has announced it has compiled 40,000 U.S. neighborhoods representing more than 2,000 cities and towns. Named Urbanware Neighborhoods, this database is used by many American portals, map platforms and Internet yellow page publishers, including Microsoft's Virtual Earth, Idearc's SuperPages.com, MapQuest and AT&T's YellowPages.com.
In application such as local search, mapping/GIS,real estate and many others, neighborhood boundaries are interesting because often they refer to geographies known by the users rather than abstraction such as the ZIP code.
"This landmark achievement uniquely positions Urban Mapping as the leading global provider of neighborhood boundary data”, said Ian White, Urban Mapping CEO. "In addition to the U.S. coverage, Urban Mapping continues to solidify its position in international coverage, with more than 10,000 defined neighborhoods across Canada and many European countries."
Urban Mapping also offers a database of 60 mass transit systems across the United States.
